Quote of the Day: Dissidents Suffering the Cost of Engagement With Castro

Tuesday, April 28, 2015
As a result of the latest international visits, the [Castro] regime feels emboldened and is exercising brutal repression. It has been two very violent weekends. Cuomo made the unfortunate statement that 'he was coming to Cuba to live the beginning of an adventure.' That same day The Ladies in White suffered a beating. Cardinal de Stella didn't even say a word about human rights [during Mass], while at the same time Catholic women were being assaulted and arrested.
-- Antonio Rodiles, Cuban democracy leader, noting the rise in repression during the trips of the New York Governor and a Vatican envoy over the last two weekends, Diario de Cuba, 4/28/15
